Gillian joined the University of Strathclyde in 1996 following a career in environmental regeneration in the third sector.
Her roles within the University have focused on developing and implementing learning opportunities for a variety of stakeholders. These include the creation of tailored training programmes for Business and Industry clients as part of the West of Scotland Business Forum, and facilitating the recruitment and admissions of undergraduate, postgraduate and research students firstly for the Graduate School of Environmental Studies, then for the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering.
Currently a Faculty Officer, specialising in Postgraduate Admissions and International Partnerships, for the Faculty of Engineering, Gillian said:
“I’m delighted to take up the role of Honorary President of the Learning in Later Life Students Association (3Ls) within the Centre for Lifelong Learning (CLL). Education brings people together, intellectually, culturally and socially. As both an MSc graduate and staff member of Strathclyde, I understand its value and impact, and the 3Ls showcases the benefits it can bring. I am looking forward to working with this wonderful community to support and promote its activity”.
Away from work, originally from Fife, Gillian loves walking the Coastal Path, going to the gym, travelling and catching up with friends and family. An avid reader, she also enjoys a good debate with her book group!
